Lance Hunter's class is titled "Enhance Your Figure and Portrait Drawing Skills." It will be held Friday and Saturday, September 14 and 15 from 9 to 3:30 (with a lunch break) at the Guild and is appropriate for beginner through advanced students. The class is an introduction to drawing strategies and techniques for capturing the human figure in an effective and expressive way. Students will draw in traditional media and with water soluble crayons from a nude model. The workshop will not present rigid formulas but will focus on practical applications for artists in a relaxed environment with individual instruction. Students will have the option to create a monochromatic painting from the model using watercolors, acrylics or water soluble oils on the second day. No turpentine, paint thinner or solvents will be allowed. This is an amazing learning opportunity and I hope many of you will join the class. Even if figure drawing isn't your strongest interest, this type of instruction can only enhance your skills and potential!
Sign up online using Paypal or send in your check payable to MAG. The deadline is August 31 but if we don't get the minimum of 15 by August 23, the class will be canceled. So please don't put it off!
The cost is $230 for members and $240 for nonmembers. A $50 deposit will hold your place until the deadline. The supplies are simple and quite inexpensive. They include: charcoal, conte' crayons, kneaded eraser, drawing paper or newsprint (18x24 or 24x36), watercolor paper and at least one mid-sized round watercolor brushes.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me or any of the workshop committee members. (Sandi Rosson, Suzanne Jobe, George Fulk or Jamie Lester)
